The Academic Leaders from the World Academic Council of Emergency Medicine, promised the great nation of Sri Lanka during WACEM2017 that they would help their nation establish the World Collaborative Centre for Acute Care (WoCCAC) for the evolution of Acute Care Sciences in SriLanka. The promise was delivered in 2019 thanks to the leadership of WACEM Leader Dr. Aruna Munasinghe.
Team SriLanka under the visionary leadership of Dr Sunil De Alwis, Additional Secretary (Medical Services), Ministry of Health, Nutrition & Indigenous Medicine crafted and executed the first and biggest International Event on CBRN in the Island nation in collaboration with WHO. The Srilanka team consisted of many stalwarts namely Dr. Anil Jasinge, Dr.Samiidhi Samarakoon and Dr. Anwar Hamdani.
The four day high profile event engaged academic subject matter experts from USA, Israel and India. Dr.Bonnie Arquilla and Dr. Pia Daniel led the team which consisted of Dr. Moshe Michealson (Israel), Dr.Vimal Krishnan & Dr.Siju V Abraham (India), Dr. Mark Silverberg, Dr. Nathan Reissman & Dr. Jessica Paulson (USA).
WACEM delivered a comprehensive approach to CNRN management with tabletop exercises, disaster ultrasound and didactics on various domains in Disaster Medicine. The delegates from Sri Lanka Army, Navy, Airforce and Sri Lanka Police force stared this event.
