Vijaya Wada Becomes Trauma Gada

EMA continued to facilitate trauma care expertise to Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh at Dr. Pinnamaneni Siddhartha Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Foundation. The partners held a Trauma Life Interventions and Support Skill School. Faculty, Postgraduates and Undergraduates benefited from this unique training module.

The workshop was inaugurated jointly by Dr. Chadalawada Nageswara Rao, Director General Of Dr. Pinnamaneni Siddhartha Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Foundation, The Principal Dr. P. Satyanarayana Murthy and Dr. K.N Chandar Medical Superintendent in the presence of the Dr. Manu Ayyan International Liaison EMA; Organizing Secretaries, Dr. Chandramouli and Dr. Adithya Pradeep.

Dr. C. Nageswara Rao in his talk to the delegates emphasized on the fact that the term “Casualty” should be replaced by Emergency Medicine Department” in India. The Principal Dr. P. Satyanarayana Murthy shared his vision for developing state of the art academic Emergency Medicine department and that the institute has already started the process for applying for postgraduate residency program MD in Emergency Medicine.

The course began with a trauma case scenario with a standardized patient simulation followed by didactics sessions on initial assessment and management of trauma, airway in trauma, shock, abdominal trauma, chest trauma, head & spine trauma, musculoskeletal trauma and trauma management in special population. EMA Leaders Dr. Manu Ayyan, Asst. Professor EM , Pariyaram Medical College, Dr. Binoy Xavier Asst. Professor EM Amala Medical College, Dr. VenkateshAsst.Professor EM & Dr. Shivaram Asst. Professor EM Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences and Dr. Suresh Kumar Consultant &In charge EM Manipal Hospitals were the course faculty. The didactics session were followed by simulated patient scenarios on high fidelity simulation mannequins.All the delegates were provided ample opportunity to interact with the faculty, clear their queries and train on the mannequins.
