The prestigious EXAMTHALON24 was held on the sidelines of EMKERALA24

EXAMTHALON means “ Fas track Your Way to Success”. The 8th edition, concluded on a high note, setting a new benchmark in exam preparation for postgraduate medical students at Jubilee Mission Medical College, Thrissur, Kerala under the aegis of Emergency Medicine Association India, Academic College of Emergency Experts and World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Emergency and Trauma Care, South East Asia region. The intensive one-day program witnessed the participation of 50 final-year residents from across India, alongside 45 faculty members (Table 1), making it a monumental event in the academic calendar.

The program, systematically evolved over the last 8 years, was designed to simulate real exam scenarios, offered an immersive experience that included real time case presentations, 10 Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) stations, 12 spotter examinations, and theory exams. Rotations ensuring exam pattern distribution of cases based on the existing DNB and MD examination format (trauma, surgery, medicine, pediatrics, obgyn) and that each student had a session with at least 4 different senior examiners was a herculean task on its own.  Meticulously planned structured OSCE included manned stations that gelled with MD, DNB, MRCEM courses (Clinical skill stations for Joint and Nerve examination, Suturing, Vascular access, ACLS, ATLS, Airway management, ENT, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Obstetrics, Psychiatry, Communication skills and Pedagogy)

Delegates also benefited from interactive feedback sessions with expert faculty, equipping them with strategies for success for their upcoming board exams. Adding to the program’s uniqueness, lectures on how to prepare for exams and how to prepare for recent advances in medical science were conducted, blending practical insights with academic rigor. The event concluded with a bang, leaving participants inspired and better prepared for their upcoming challenges.

The unprecedented scale of this event, which catered to 50 students and an equal number of faculty, marked it as a milestone achievement for Emergency Medicine Association India.

Faculty and participants alike praised the meticulous planning and comprehensive content, calling it a “game-changer” in exam simulation programs.

EXAMTHALON24 stands as a testament to the institution’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and preparing the next generation of medical professionals for success.

The initial days will focus on mock exam simulations, including OSCE stations, theory exams, and spotter evaluations, to mirror real-world examination settings. This will be followed by case-based learning sessions, where residents engage in interactive discussions, presenting gold-standard approaches to specific clinical cases. Senior faculty will guide these sessions, offering insights into recent advancements and evidence-based practices. The program will culminate with personalized feedback, group discussions on exam strategies, and a roadmap for further preparation, ensuring a comprehensive academic experience”
