Sonia Shines with The Nightingale Award

Emergency Nursing Leader Ms. Sonia Chauhan, was awarded with the most prestigious award for the Nurses in India : National Florence Nightingale Award -2020 by Honourable President of India on 15th September 2021 The felicitation programme was organised by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare at Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi.

Ms. Sonia Chauhan, is the Fellow of the Academy for Clinical Emergency Nursing in India. She is a Senior Nursing Officer is AIIMS, New Delhi Alumni with B.Sc. (Nursing) qualification working in JPN Apex Trauma Centre, AIIMS, New Delhi has 14 years of experience. She has undergone additional education in M.Sc. in Counselling & Family Therapy, and Post Graduate Certificate course in Hospital Management. She has undergone variety of short-term courses on the job in Trauma Nursing, Emergency Nursing, Critical Care and Disaster Management. She is a dynamic Trauma Nurse, dedicated, intelligent, able organizer and team player who demonstrates empathy, compassion and caring attitude. She has been actively involved in various academic activities, research studies and projects in JPN Apex Trauma Centre, AIIMS, New Delhi. She has been course coordinator for Trauma, Emergency and Disaster Management training programs at National as well as International level ( Thailand, Nepal, Iran). She has been awarded AIIMSONIANS of America Award for the Best Nurse (2018), and Best Nurse in Research Work (2010).

She was active Member of team of Doctor and Nurses to pursue Trauma System and Mass Casualty Management Course in HAIFA Israel in Dec 2007 . It was a milestone in initiation and development of Trauma Care System at J.P.N. Apex Trauma Centre, AIIMS, New Delhi

Ms. Sonia has earned letters of appreciation from Trauma Nurses Society of Thailand for being International Trainer Faculty (2019) and also as esteemed faculty from INDUSEM since 2011 and got mentorship under the guidance of Dr. Sanjeev Bhoi and INDUSEM CEO Dr. Sagar Galwankar. She has been winner of Case Management Competition in INDUDEM Conference in 2011. She has presented her research work in various conferences nationally as well as internationally. She is the esteemed Faculty and the Educator in India for ATCN (Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses ) course by Society of Trauma Nurses, USA.

She One of the foundation Nursing Personal in initiation of Trauma Nurse Coordinator System in India at J.P.N. Apex Trauma Centre AIIMS in March 2009. This is first of its kind system for care of Trauma Patients from ‘Resuscitation to Rehabilitation’ This concept proved a milestone in improvement of trauma care and patient safety.

She has been instrumental in establishment and initiation of COVID-19 patients care during the Pandemic and also contributed as the first vaccinator of COVID-19 Vaccination Centre at AIIMS, New Delhi.
