The CORD award is the highest recognition given by the CORD Academy for Scholarship and Dr. Garg is the sole recipient for 2018 and only the 12th recipient of the award since its inception in 2012.

The award recognizes academic excellence and contributions in education by a faculty member with an enduring record of significant leadership in a range of curriculum development and educational administration. This honor recognizes Dr. Garg’s international accomplishments as he has established a global medicine curriculum and has taught and administrated over thousands of medical students and emergency medicine residents. As the institutional leader for global medicine at Temple, Dr. Garg has established an institutional partnership between the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and Jubilee Memorial Hospital in Thrissur, Kerala. Through this collaboration, faculty, residents, and medical students have collaborated in patient care, research, and emergency disaster planning.

Now in its 4th year, Dr. Garg’s commitment to India was recognized with the Arogya Kiran Puraskar at the 2017 World Academic Congress of Emergency Medicine by INDUSEM in Sri Lanka.
