PACT in EM… ACT in EM @ AIIMS BHOPAL

AIIMS Bhopal, in collaboration with Emergency Medicine Association (EMA) Madhya Pradesh and WHO Collaborating Centre for Emergency & Trauma (WHO CCET), hosted PACTEM2025, a National CME-cum-Workshop on Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) for Acute Care in Trauma and Emergency.

The event aimed to enhance the proficiency of emergency healthcare professionals in using ultrasound for rapid diagnosis and intervention in critical situations.

Under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Mohd Yunus, Head of the Department of Trauma & Emergency Medicine, the workshop was inaugurated by esteemed dignitaries, including Prof. (Dr.) Ajai Singh, Director, AIIMS Bhopal; Dr. Sunil Malik, President, AIIMS Bhopal; Col. Ajit Kumar, Deputy Director (Admin); Prof. (Dr.) Rajnish Joshi, Dean (Academics); and Dr. Tiwari, Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO). In his keynote address, Prof. (Dr.) Ajai Singh emphasized the critical role of ultrasound in emergency medicine and the importance of hands-on training to improve patient care and clinical outcomes.

The workshop was enriched by the expertise of Dr. Sagar Galwankar, Founder & President of EMA, and Dr. Sanjeev Bhoi, Director of WHO CCET. Dr. Ruchi Tandon, Undersecretary of EMA Madhya Pradesh State Chapter, actively participated, contributing valuable insights to the discussions.

The event provided an immersive learning experience through lectures on POCUS applications in trauma and emergency care, covering lung ultrasound, transthoracic echocardiography (TTE), eFAST, and ultrasound-guided central venous cannulation. Live demonstrations of ultrasound techniques for trauma management, hands-on training sessions, and simulator-based learning further enhanced the participants’ skills. Expert faculties from AIIMS Delhi, AIIMS Kalyani, AIIMS Raebareli, AIIMS Nagpur, AIIMS Rishikesh, AIIMS Raipur, and other prestigious institutions guided participants through advanced ultrasound techniques tailored for emergency scenarios.

The conceptualization and execution of this highly successful event were led by Dr. Pooja Thaware and Dr. Saurabh Trivedi, along with the dedicated team of the Department of Trauma and Emergency Medicine at AIIMS Bhopal.

PACTEM 2025 successfully reinforced the integration of ultrasound technology in acute care, providing participants with hands-on training, live demonstrations, simulator-based learning, and interactive case-based discussions. With multidisciplinary participation from emergency physicians, anaesthetists, critical care specialists, and surgeons, the event marked a significant step toward optimizing emergency care services in India.
