The thematic EMHIMACHAL conference was conducted successfully in the lap of Nature at Kufri, Shimla from 25-27th of May. It was conducted jointly by the IGMC Shimla, EMA Himachal chapter, Society of Pulmonary Medicine and INCUS RESURRECT was an academic feast for the residents and physicians of the region showcasing the range and depth Emergency medicine to them. The highlight of the event was the Indian Council of Medical Research Sponsored – ‘acute Care, Lung ultrasound, Airway management, and Non-invasive ventilation (CLAN) translational workshop. The idea of CLAN was to create a workforce trained to deal with prevailing and future respiratory emergencies arising from Coronaviruses and Influenza viruses. This idea conceived by Dr. Vivek Chauhan is truly revolutionary and needs to be replicated in all medical colleges. Workshop was delivered by the National Faculty of INDUSEM.
The attendees belonged to the departments of Medicine, Anesthesia, Emergency Medicine, and Pulmonary medicine. Another highlight of the event was a thematic CME on Tropical infections. Tropical infections are a neglected area and topics like Rickettsial infections beyond scrub typhus, Rabies, and the North-South divide of Snake bites in India were discussed.
This event brought together the Departments of Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Anesthesia and Emergency Medicine on a single platform to deliver the very first EMHIMACHAL conference that was attended by over 200 delegates.
About Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla
Himachal Pradesh Medical College at Shimla (HPMC) was established in the year 1966 with admissions of 50 students in the first batch. Indira Gandhi Medical College is affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. With the establishment of Medical College in the State, the hopes and aspirations of the people of the state were met with the standards of health services going on and students benefiting with the advantage of staying home and getting better educational avenues. Medical College then had a modest beginning with makeshift arrangements for hostels etc., but ecstasy of joining the Medical College located in Shimla with its salubrious climate, took away the agony., Himachal Pradesh Medical College was renamed Indira Gandhi Medical College (now popularly known as IGMC in abbreviated form) in 1984. About Kufri
