EMINDIA24, the 20th Annual All India Conference in Emergency Medicine, by INDUSEM, was hosted by AIIMS Bhopal, in partnership with LN Medical College and GMC Bhopal, from 7th to 11th August 2024.
This mammoth of a conference saw over hundreds of registrants, over 280 abstracts submitted & accepted by the Scientific Committee, multiple workshops and events, high-stakes meetings, and national and international faculty.
The WHO Collaborating Centre for Emergency and Trauma Care, South-East Asia (WHO-CCET SEAR) conducted a national consultation meeting on ‘Overcrowding Related Safety Challenges’ over a two-day period with multiple stakeholders, presence from the health ministry, and a panel of national and international experts. This meeting covered current hot topics of the scale of overcrowding in emergency departments, its contributors and consequences, potential solutions, and impact of patients and healthcare workers.
Pre-conference workshops including the Skills Mela hosted by LNMC and Cyclical Workshops hosted by GMC Bhopal were a massive success. The Skills Mela is INDUSEM’s model workshop combining the multiple skills required in resuscitative scenarios of all causes, for all ages, under one roof on a single day. The Cyclical Workshops ran four skills-based labs, namely, Emergency Thoracotomy, POCUS for Shock in EM, POCUS for Echocardiography in EM, and Bronchoscopy in EM, teaching advised Emergency Medicine skills in structured formats.
The main two days of the conference saw speakers of varying experience from young EM physicians to experienced faculty, superspecialists, allied healthcare staff, all of whom made the most of the opportunity to present their work on the podium and as digital posters. INDUSEM is proud of its motto of allowing everyone the opportunity to speak and learn together – Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.
EMINDIA24 introduced the first of its kind national EM gaming extravaganza – EMGAMES 2024. This all-day event featured thirteen participating teams from residencies across India who competed in various EM games developed and curated by carefully selected team of experts. These included SONOCHAKRAVYUH – the simulation-based competition where teams demonstrate their bedside ultrasound skills. SIMSHAKTI – where teams go head-to-head with high-acuity EM based clinical simulation scenarios. SONOSIM championship which combines the two competition modules. EM-iQ – the national EM quiz competition. The 1Q1K round where teams get the opportunity to earn Rs. 1000 for every board-level knowledge-test question they answer, and many co-curricular prizes. Despite being in its introductory year, EMGAMES24 was a grand success enjoyed by one and all and closing out EMINDIA24 in grand style.
