The Emergency Medicine Association in partnership with The Department of Emergency Medicine at AIIMS, New Delhi successfully conducted the Inaugural Undergraduate Quiz on Emergency Medicine called EM-IQ (Interactive Quiz).
EM-iQ is slated to be an annual event and is a unique academic activity for MBBS students and interns studying in various medical colleges.
Conducted for the first time, a total of 32 teams from 6 colleges participated in the event, giving it a Pan-Delhi flavour.
The session commenced with an MCQ-based screening round for all the participating teams. With a total of around 100 participants, there were teams from AIIMS, Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), Vardhaman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC), University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS), Hamdard Institute of Medical Science and Research (HIMSR) and a team from Armed Forces Medical Sciences (AFMC), Pune.
EMA Leader Dr. Naman Agrawal, from AIIMS-EM presented the various aspects of emergency medicine and its journey as a specialty in India. His talk titled “ABC of Emergency Medicine” was followed by the Departmental video of AIIMS Emergency Medicine: “EDit”.
The Quiz also hosted a panel discussion onfuture of EM as a specialty by the AIIMS-EM Faculty namely Professor Dr. Praveen Aggarwal, Professor Dr. Sanjeev Bhoi, Dr. Meera Ekka. The Session was coordinated by Dr. Rachanaand moderated by Dr. Akshay.
It was energy filled 2.5 hours, in which all teams and the audience enthusiastically participated.
With AIIMS winning the Quiz and MAMC being the runner up, Certificates and mementos were distributed to the team members by Professor Dr Bhoi. The session was concluded with discussion of the queries and a group photograph. Everyone left the hall motivated and more enthusiastic towards the budding new specialty- “Emergency Medicine”
