The Department of Trauma and Emergency Medicine at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Raipur, in collaboration with the Emergency Medicine Association (EMA) of India, successfully hosted the 3rd Annual Cardiovascular Emergencies Symposium (ACES25) from March 7th to 9th, 2025. This landmark event convened esteemed international and national faculty, expert clinicians, and emerging medical professionals from across India, focusing on advanced strategies for managing acute cardiac conditions.

In a country where cardiovascular diseases claim lives at an alarming rate—two people lose their lives to heart attacks every hour—the symposium’s focus on practical, life-saving skills was both timely and essential. ACES25 not only provided a platform for exchanging advanced knowledge but also reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of healthcare professionals to improve patient survival rates through cutting-edge training and innovative practices.

The inauguration ceremony was presided over by AIIMS Raipur’s Executive Director, Lt. Gen. Ashok Jindal (retd.), who commended the organizing team for their exceptional arrangements. He lauded the Department of Trauma and Emergency Medicine for its unwavering commitment to patient safety, innovation, research, and exemplary care.

Over the three-day symposium, delegates & faculties from across BHARAT engaged with each other. AIIMS Delhi, AIIMS Jodhpur, AIIMS Rishikesh, AIIMS Nagpur, AIIMS Bhopal, JIPMER, AIIMS Patna, Pt. JNM Medical College Raipur, and Ramkrishna Care Hospital Raipur enthusiastically participated in ACES25. This diverse gathering facilitated enriching discussions and exchanges, deepening the collective understanding of cardiovascular emergencies.

A notable highlight of ACES25 was the International Keynote Address by Prof. (Dr.) Fatimah Lateef, Senior Consultant (Emergency Medicine) at Singapore General Hospital, on “Emergency Cardiovascular Care: Preparedness, Training, and Collegiality.” Her global insights into best practices in emergency medicine resonated with attendees, paving the way for international collaborations.

The symposium emphasized practical skills through hands-on workshops. On March 7th, an intensive Echocardiography Workshop was conducted, equipping doctors with essential cardiac ultrasound assessment skills The National CME on Cardiovascular Emergencies on March 8th featured evidence-based discussions and case-based learning sessions on the latest advancements in emergency cardiac care. On March 9th, an innovative Electrocardiogram (ECG) Workshop, coordinated by EMA leaders Dr. Naman Agrawal and Dr. Roshan Mathew, utilized gamification techniques to simplify complex ECG interpretation, enabling participants to apply these skills effectively in clinical settings.

Reflecting on the event’s achievements, INDUSEM leader and HOD Trauma & Emergency AIIMS Raipur, Prof. (Dr.) Debendra Kumar Tripathy shared his vision for sustainable, state-of-the-art, and timely emergency care for all. He emphasized that continuous learning and collaboration are vital to elevating patient care standards and expressed his commitment to fostering innovation and research within the department.

AIIMS Raipur continues to lead in emergency medicine training, research, and innovation. With initiatives such as the recently introduced Post-Doctoral Certificate Course (PDCC) in Acute Cardiac Care, the institute addresses the urgent need for specialized training in cardiac emergencies and actively integrates technology-driven solutions to enhance patient outcomes.

Dr. Sagar Galwankar, CEO of INDUSEM, engaged with faculty and participants during the ECG workshop. A distinguished figure in the field, Dr. Galwankar has been instrumental in pioneering the development of academic emergency medicine in India. During his interaction, he emphasized the critical importance of integrating simulation-based education into emergency medicine training programs. His vision encompasses fostering global collaborations to enhance emergency medicine education and care.
